The Actual Oath of Office for any official in the State of California
Summary
Article XX, Section 3 of the California Constitution mandates that all public officials and employees, including those working for the state, counties, cities, and universities, must swear an oath before entering their positions. The oath requires them to uphold both the U.S. and California Constitutions, swear allegiance to both, and declare that they do not belong to any organization that advocates for the overthrow of the U.S. or California governments by force. This section also states that no other oaths or declarations are required for public office or employment.
